Student Resouces

Studying a science topic like Marine Biology / Oceanography we have to write quite a few scientific based essays or papers.

Using published material as a source of information is really important and lecturer's are looking for use of journals and articles. Through the university intranet you can access library resources and databases like BIOSIS and CAB but a lot of journals are published by the same publishers.

Below are two of the most useful journal publishers I have found. Students can use their ATHENS login to access most of these journals free. For info on your ATHENS login if you are not sure check your intranet. The Bangor University ATHENS login is your user name with the letters BAN infront then normal password.

Web of Science is one of best places to start a search this is the Athens login page for students

Blackwell Synergy online use Athens login

for articles on springer link my tip is go through a library catalogue searching for the journal you need. If its springer published you will be offered a link to the articles online & asked to put the barcode number off your library card and your pin number in rather than use your athens login. It works & gives you full access !!
