GROVE ARMADA , "Lovebox

Classy, jazzy electonic, guitary dance music for the Noughties! Drops some of the pretentions of their earlier efforts and just gets on with it. Creamy vocals make your ears drool and your heart bleed … ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003

THE MANIC STREET PREACHERS , "Forever Delayed" (Best Of)

Simply buy this album! The Manics are fabulous and this is the only place to get "Suicide is Painless" and "Masses Against the Classes" on CD. Buy! ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003

FOO FIGHTERS , One By One

Latest effort from ex-Nirvana drummer, now Foo's guitar / vocalist, Dave Grohl and the most consistent of their albums. Grohl has admitted thht this is the album that has to really break them into the big time or the Foo's may split and on 5th hearing it should do that! Good, driving hard rock, flashes of Nirvana in it, crisp production ... All killer, no filler as the saying goes! ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003

U2 , The Best Of 1990-2000

Comments on Nirvana applies, but here the songs sit more comfortably. U2's first best of (1980-1990) is a little more jarring and in general songs are presented in roughly chronological order. Here the transformation in the U2 sound is less extreme. You will know 90% of these from radio play even if you've never bought a U2 album in your life ... and love every one! If you bought Joshua Tree because it was trendy, buy this and see what you've missed since! ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003

NIRVANA , "Nirvana" (Best Of)

Hmm ... Never really been a fan of best of's and this one sums it up. All the songs are taken out of context and jumbled together ... Okay - they have been arranged to form a "transition" - a journey with up's and down's, but it really misses out on the flow of hearing the soungs back-to-back in their original contexts. As an intro to Nirvana for the uninitiated or those from the post-Nirvana generation it fulfills it's purpose but recommendation would be to buy Nevermind and In Utero instead and immerse yourself … ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003

AUDIOSLAVE , Audioslave

First album by ex-Soundgarden vocalist, Chris Cornell with the remnants of Rage Against The Machine following Zac de la Rocha's departure.Apart from 2 tracks where Cornell's navel-gazing self absorption shown in his solo album surfaces this is just what you would expect - Rage with Cornell vox. Any fan of either band will find something new and exciting here. As a fan of both former bands I feel it's missing some of the magic that Soundgarden and Rage came out with but there is definitely something there ... ; Added by Mike on 25/03/2003
