Friday 14th October - Back at school & breech babies
Well it should have been a nice relaxed week or so back with all new
decorating etc done & new carpets booked to come in. The decoraters
have unfortunately done a terrible job ! The bathroom is a mess which
is a real shame since its a complete new bathroom suite. The hall way
looks awful and only half finished. I have spent the week arranging for
them to come back and start again. Apparently they have to rip off some
of the new wallpaper and start again & also rip out some of the bathroom
work and start that again too. Not a happy bunny. To top that the third
trimester aches and pains ares tarting to kick in along with a nice healthy
bout of Insomnia so am absolutely shattered. Went back into hospital after
serious bad heartburn and chest pains to discover that baby is breached
which is why I feel like I have a brick in my chest. I do ! His head !
Breech babies
Before birth, most babies are in a head-down position in the mother's
uterus. That's why most babies are born headfirst. Sometimes the part
of the baby that is head down is not the head, but the buttocks or the
feet. When a baby is in that position before birth, it's called a breech
birth or breech baby. Many babies are breech early in pregnancy, but most
of them turn to the headfirst position near the end of the pregnancy.
Babies that are born early are more likely to be breech. Most babies at
my stage have lots of room to move about so the doctor
& midwife were not worried and said that he is more than likely happy
like that at the moment but will roll over eventually all on his own.
For the moment it simply means coping with the bad acid & heartburn.
Week 24 Pregnancy official stuff
Have a healthy appetite & despite the heartburn am feeling fab. Experiencing
a bit of backache this week and Mum says my spine sometimes looks quite
curved so I am carrying a small cushion with me to the office to help
support my back. This week white blood cells are under production. Leukocytes
(or white blood cells) form our body's defense systems. They help fight
infections and diseases. Little one's skin has changed from translucent
to become more opaque. Baby's tongue is fully formed . If we were able
to peek we might catch him practicing giving us a raspberry! Wake
and sleep periods become more consistent. Some research suggests
that baby sets their internal clock to match the outside world's even
before birth! Your eating and sleeping habits as well levels of light
and noise serve as her signals. Cool huh !
Baby measures about 10.51 inches (26.7cm) and weighs nearly 12.7 ounces (360g) .
Monday 17th October - Fabulous sunny October weekend
Saturday was amazingly sunny so my friend and house mate - Rhian and
I decided to have lunch out. We ended up choosing to drive to Beaumaris
which was a great idea. We ate at the White Lion Hotel. The food was
really nice and not too expensive. After food we walked around the town
and peeked into all the little trinket shops. Beaumaris is great for
little shops that sell everything from smelly candles, cards, jewellery
to ornaments, pictures and candy. Lovely afternoon out. Sunday spent
the day in bed relaxing. All that walking made my ankles swell just
a little bit.
Wednesday 19th October - I am fed up with home!
Its amazing how being pregnant makes you a) more tearful b) less tolerant
of anything that disturbs your peaceful pregnancy bubble and c) more
susceptible to smells and sounds. What am I going on about? The tearful
conversation I had on the phone with my Dad while I explained that the
second round of painting, decorating and building work was going really
well but I wasn't coping well with being around it and wanted to come
home to their house without if possible driving anywhere - why oh why
haven't they invented star trek style transporter technology yet ?
This little outburst was mostly because its making me feel tired and
I am not sleeping well anyway. Sleep depravation isn't something I enjoy
- whoops I better get used to it ! But at least normally I could have
a peaceful day ! Gosh I hope this baby is a sleepy one ! he he Anyway
easily resolved. I decided to wait until tomorrow as today I am far
too tired to drive and simply go home for a few days while they finish
the work. There at least I can go to the loo without having to negotiate
an obstacle course of decorators materials and then wedge the door shut
or crawl up and down the stairs on my bum because there are ladders
and bits of wood wedged at intervals down the stair case ! Mum's house
doesn't have any stairs !
There is a lot to be said for a peaceful life. Sometimes I really miss the beaches of Thailand and the life of beachouse so much !
Monday 24th October - Peace and solitude and swimming
Being in Malvern is great. Its peaceful and quiet and I can swim etc
and take my time. Sometimes its true what they say - home is the best
place on earth. My computer came with me - as normal, and is back at
the spare desk in the office so I can do college work & website
work. Lots of work on at the moment but sitting at the computer is fine
as long as I have a cushion for my back. Backache and swelling in hands,
ankles and feet are my only real symptoms at the moment. I did make
the mistake of pulling a muscle getting out of mum's car when we went
wool shopping on saturday which feels awful. Its one of those moments
when you realise that your body is alien to you and has changed - sometimes
you simply forget. Stomach muscles no longer exist - they are stretched
outwards and are busy holding the bowling ball in my stomach up so there
isn't much slack for other things like getting up off a chair or bed
etc. All part of the joy in being part of the miracle of new life !
Food cravings while pregnant
My
latest must have is toffee apples. I have eaten 4 over
the last 3 days. Yummy ! I love autumn ! I am trying hard to keep up
with my 2 litres of water a day as well as my 5 portions of fruit and
veg. Its not really a problem as I love fruit, salad and most veg but
if you can have sugar coated fruit then why not ! Banana fritters rule
- my sister-in-law Liz agrees. Dad and James both know by now that if
they go anywhere near the chinese take-away that a portion of Banana
fritters in syrup will definitely win brownie points !
I am going to really regret all this indulgence when I am a fat frumpy mummy and can't get rid of the weight afterwards arent I?
