This is something of a new and exciting project for
my website not least because I had not expected to be
expecting this year ! An unexpected gift has come my
way and I thought it would be neat to document my experiences
in a diary of my pregnancy. I can share them with
my friends and family and the new baby when it arrives.
So my first addition is the pregnancy diary.
Finding
out I was Pregnant |
This was quite
a shock I can tell you but news that I wasn't
entirely surprised at. I had been to the doctors
only a week or so ago complaining of Summer Flu,
feeling a bit off colour, off my food etc. The
doctor told me it was a virus. Some virus eh. The
following week or so the nurse proclaimed me pregnant
before the test had even finished working and informed
me that I should definitely be thinking twice about
travelling to China. There was certainly no way
I was having any vaccinations. Its a surprise but
one I am delighted about. The doctor did of course
recommend that I stop taking the pill straight away
! Wow this baby angel definitely decided it was time
no matter what ! |

First Scan at week
10 - St Davids (where I was born) |
Wow you can believe
my amazement at being introduced for the first time
to my baby. There is only one as you can see. My
little peanut. Its pretty chilled out lying on its
back and seeing its little arms and legs moving around
was amazing. The most amazing part was seeing its
tiny heart beating away. A tiny life growing inside
me. Building all its organs, ten fingers and toes,
my family cheeks probably, tiny ears and a smile.
No wonder I am absolutely shattered. |

Being Pregnant -
The Rules |
Well
I am suffering that affliction known as morning
sickness though why it is referred to as morning
sickness I am not sure when I seem to get it
all day. In truth I haven't actually been that
sick its more like being seasick - constantly.
Weird really that they give you this book to
read - the official guide to being pregnant
and actually its what the book doesn't say
that is irritating. Like does everyone feel
sick like this all day or is it just me? Does
anyone else want to consume a whole box of
rice-crispies in one day with full fat guernsey
gold top milk or is it just me? Its the real
stuff you want to know about. And who knew
there were all these rules to something you
figure a billion women have done before. |
|
| Rules
? Don't overexert yourself you will starve
the baby of oxygen. Don't sit in the sun too
long the baby's blood will boil (that one made
the doctor laugh). Don't smoke or drink (I
can understand smoking & drinking). You
can't eat fish or shellfish and aren't supposed
to eat red meat unless its well cooked and
eggs are the same. How do you separate the
rubbish from the reality? |

The situation,
thoughts & preparation |
| The news I am having
a baby is still something of a shock but I am starting
to get used to it. Unfortunately the father (Simon)
and I are not in a relationship but I sincerely hope
that down the line we manage some sort of friendship
for the baby's sake at least. It would be nice for
it to have some relationship with its dad though
at present I have no idea how that will work. To
be honest I realise how much there is to be thought
about. Beds, cots, chairs, clothes, nappies, feeding
etc etc etc. For the moment though i am taking time
to really enjoy being pregnant and having time so
sleep and relax which I will probably relish in six
months time when I am not getting much of either.
I have had my first set of blood tests which was
awful (I hate needles) and done the initial questionnaire
etc. To be fair since I had no idea I was pregnant
I am pretty much already out of the first trimester
without even knowing so any danger period is almost
over and now its just getting bigger and fatter I
guess. he he |

I Love being pregnant - even if food is a problem
(Pregnancy Diary Week 11) |
Had
lovely weekend away at my friend Fiona's house
in Ormskirk. It was her birthday and she had
a BBq party with close friends. Fiona's brother
Duncan and his wife Julia came with their 9
month old baby which was lovely. The weather
was fabulous and sunny (burnt my nose) and
I ended up staying until tuesday which was
unexpected but really nice. I must say I love
being pregnant. People keep stopping me and
telling me how really happy and great I look
which is just fab. Apparently being pregnant
really agrees with me. Must say I feel great.
Have arranged to get my hair
cut next week. Feeling fat I can
cope with but fat and bad hair is just too
much. |

Sickness & Food -
I must admit I still can't figure out the 'morning
seasickness' since mine hits me at any time
of the day. Today for example I couldn't eat
at all until after 1pm. I had thought I was
over it especially since I ate so much junk
this weekend but last night & today proved
otherwise. Its my nose that's the problem.
It can't stand anything being cooked so have
resorted to anything that's cold. Which is
why fruit and cereals work really well. I really
want to eat tuna sarnies with salad cream but
tuna is one of those rules. You are only supposed
to eat 6oz per week which is more or less 1
tin. Chocolate Revels are also turning into
something of a favourite. I don't think that's
a crave its an indulgence (I have an excuse
after all !). |
